Google Hangout becomes Google Meet

Hangouts Meet has now known as Google Meet. This app provides free video and voice calls. You need a Google account to start a call but you could be part of one without it. You can invite as much as 150 people to a Google Hangouts chat, but only up to 25 can be a part of a video call at once.

Google announced that in April month that in early May, anyone with an email address can sign up for Meet and enjoy same features available to our business and education users, such as simple scheduling and screen sharing, real-time captions, and layouts that adapt to your preference, including an expanded tiled view.

After COVID-19(coronavirus), Google is providing free service on its video confessing service of Google Hangouts Meet without charging any cost to help people, companies and schools stay connected. You can now host large conferences of as much as 250 participants for free, and you can also record conferences and save them in Google Drive. This free service is available until September 30, 2020.


You can access this software from your device like Android, iOS or from a web browser. To access this software, you can very easily create a meeting id in Google Meet.

If you have a Google email account then go to to create a Google meet account. If you don’t have Google account then you can easily create a Gmail account by providing some simple information and you need to do this at once.

Here are some points that make Google Meet different from others…

Google does not allow anyone to create Google meeting room, so you need to have a Gmail Account unless you will not able to create a meeting.

It gives access to admin to remove or add any person from the meeting. Meeting codes are created by Google and it is complex by default, therefore, resilient to brute-force “guessing.”

Google meetings are encrypted in transit, and videos what you will record in a meeting is saved in Google Drive, which also encrypted in transit.

The increased tiled layout now lets internet users at a time can see up to sixteen individuals (previously, tiled layouts only enabled you to see 4 participants at a time). More updates are coming for larger meetings, better presentation layouts, and access from more devices.

Now you can use present your high-quality video and audio content to other participants. In this update, you get present crime tab feature which enables you to share your screen with others and you can access this from the bottom right corner of the screen.

At the present time, it also uses  AI to automatically adjust your video to make you more visible to other participants in sub-optimal lighting conditions and this feature available for only mobile use but in the future, it will be also available for web users also.

Meet can now intelligently clear out background distractions—like your dog barking or keystrokes as you are taking notes. Noise cancellation will begin rolling out within the coming weeks to G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education customers beginning with internet users and later to a cell or mobile users.
