Best Search Engine Guide for beginners

Hello!

Dear Reader

In today’s blog, I am going to explain the definition of search engines and also how a SE bot treats us to provide the solution to our queries. After reading this you will be able to understand these two main things: Firstly, how does any SE like google know about all things? and secondly, how do they give us the most relevant answer at the top of the page.
To explain all the things I have started today’s topic.

Search Engine: Explore Information

In a narrow sense, we can say “search engines are websites that solve our queries with the help of their bot.”
But in a broader sense, we agree that “Search Engine is an internet software system which is programmed for giving the solution of queries from the World Wide Web in the form of a most relevant data list with links of those sites, who share those content on WWW.”

Let’s evaluate this definition.

The Internet means a data and information sharing network and software pointing to a program that does similar things continually for the computer.
Basically, the software is an instructor which tells the computer what to do according to the command. The same thing we can notice on the search engine, here we type our queries, and then after the search engine replies to our queries are according to their database.

Now I think you clearly understand search engines, so we move on to our next topic and that is how the SE works.

How Search Engine Works

After understanding the SE we discuss the search engine’s function. The SE bot like crawler performs its function in two ways:

#1:-For Business

  • Crawling: In this function, crawling goes to the website and checks the HTML code, quality of contents, architecture of the site, and the links and fetches all those data.
  • Indexing: Soon after crawlers start the indexing process. Where it categories the data and indexes them in a particular place.

For example
Let’s suppose we are selling clothes online and we want a large number of traffic visits and purchased the clothes from the site. Then firstly we go to google and start doing keyword research with an online keyword planner, then we shortlist those keywords that carry a large number of search volumes.

Secondly, we apply those keywords on our website now the crawler comes to our website and fetches the content with keywords and stores them. Finally when any user search business like us google present our business on the SERPs.

#2:-For General users

  • Retrieval: In retrieval, the process crawler takes our quires as keywords and goes to the database, then after it checks all the data which included those keywords, and at this instant after collecting the data crawler starts the next step.
  • Calculate Relevance: The second process is to calculate relevancy, here it checks the relevancy score for that particular keyword, and at last, it gives the rank on the SERP page of users.

Now imagine as a user we have some queries like online shopping sites in India and we go on google and type “best online shopping site in India”, crawler takes this query and goes to their database.
After that, it starts searching all those data that include these keywords.

After assembling the data crawler rank them all according to their relevancy score and share the list with us. Then we got the list of the best online shopping sites in India.

Also, when you need to find any question like what is SEO or any other question, you just type your word (keyword) and you will get your desired result with in few second because of search engine advance technology.

How does a search engine work?

Search engines use automated software programs called spiders or crawlers to discover and index web pages. These spiders follow links on websites and gather information about the content. When a user enters a search query, the search engine retrieves relevant pages from its index and ranks them based on various factors like relevance and authority.

Which search engine is the most popular?

As of my knowledge cutoff in May 2023, Google is the most popular search engine globally, with a significant majority of the market share. However, there are other search engines like Bing, Yahoo, and DuckDuckGo that are also widely used.

How does a search engine determine the ranking of search results?

Search engines use complex algorithms that consider multiple factors to determine the ranking of search results. These factors can include relevance to the search query, quality and authority of the content, user engagement metrics, website loading speed, and more.

Can search engines index all types of content?

Search engines primarily index text-based content like web pages, blog posts, articles, and PDFs.
